Sclerotherapy
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a popular medical procedure used to treat spider veins, which are small, dilated blood vessels often visible on the skin’s surface, typically on the legs.
During the treatment, a solution (often a salt-based or detergent solution) is injected directly into the affected veins. The solution irritates the vein walls, causing them to collapse and eventually fade away. The body then absorbs the treated veins over time, leading to a smoother, clearer appearance of the skin.
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that generally requires little downtime, with most patients resuming their normal activities shortly after treatment. Multiple sessions may be needed depending on the extent of the veins, and while it is considered a safe and effective treatment, some minor side effects, such as bruising or swelling, may occur.
